Remembrance by: Dan Shilling —
When I worked at the Arizona Humanities Council (1984-2003) I soon learned that there were few people in the state who knew more about local history than Elizabeth Ruffner. Especially if our work focused on Yavapai County, she was the person to consult and involve. After I left AHC in 2003, I had the pleasure of working at Sharlot Hall Museum in Prescott, and again, if I needed a contact in the community, or if I was searching for a chapter of the town’s story, I only needed to call Elizabeth, and she always came through. What an honor it was to know her; I will never forget her smile and twinkling eyes. My condolences to her friends and family. She was truly one of a kind!
